1994 Formation of Touch Bob Herbert and son Chris Herbert invision an all-girl group that could rival boy-band Take That. After much visits to dance schools and drama colleges, Bob and Chris Herbert decide on groups to invite to an audition for an all girl group. They place an ad in The Stage newspaper. Melanie C, Melanie B, Victoria, Michelle and Geri go to the auditions. On March 4 1994 the the auditions are held, and the group is formed. Melanie C, Melanie B, Victoria, Michelle and Geri are chosen to become "Touch". Touch begins to rehearse and lay down tracks. All five girls live in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Geri becomes disappointed with the management. She feels the girls could do much better. It's believed Chris and Bob wanted Melanie C to sing all the leads and the rest of the girls to back Melanie C up. Geri felt all five could sing the leads. Michelle's mother gets sick and causes her to depart from the group. Emma Bunton takes Michelle's spot. Still unhappy with management, Chris and Bob invision Melanie C singing the leads and the other four girls backing her up, Geri pursuades the rest of the girls to walk out on the management team.
