Forever Spice Trashes Geri

A source close to the Spice Girls says:

"This book is dynamite, the girls open their hearts about what they think of her, both then and now. It will blow open the myth that they all understood Geri's decision and show just how badly she let them down. She's seen as being very selfish and unthinking. Her departure to quit came close to completely destroying the group and they haven't forgiven her betrayal. Geri might have thought everything has been fogotten and forgiven - but she's in for a very nasty shock. She told them she was sick of being a pop star and wanted to do other things - acting and television, that she wouldn't compete with them. It's fair to say that they were less than happy when she announced plans to release an album and become a solo artist. They felt she'd betrayed them again."

Melanie C Interview On MTV

MTV Europe caught up with Melanie C after one of her V99 performances and got a few words from her when asking her if she is trying to forget her Spice Roots as Geri Halliwell did especially with the Ginger Spice funeral scene in her video for "Look At Me". Here is what Melanie said:

"I'm not trying to, I know the media is trying to say that's what I'm doing, but I'm not. I'm proud to be a Spice Girl, I'm still Sporty Spice. Look at that!" (shows her biceps) (giggles) "But I think... I was very offended actually by the Look At Me video, I felt it was unnecessary. I was offended being a Spice Girl, and I feel it to be offensive to the fans as well. And, uh, you know.actually I wanna put something straight here and now. I love being a Spice Girl, I'm not trying to hide or deny or anything, I'm still a Spice Girl, I always will be."

TLC On Spice Girls

"To us, the Spice Girls are just another girl group who have taken TLC as their patent. Every girl group has stolen from our attitude and our look. Solo artists do it, too. We don't mind. We're trend-setters, that's our job. What we do mind is when the likes of the Spice Girls don't give credit where it's due."

V99 Wrap Up
Thanks Joz

Melanie C performed for the second day of V99 yesterday. The crowd was once again not the most excited, but politely clapped at the end of her 20 minute performance. The crowd particularly didn't like her cover of the Sex Pistol's "Anarcy In The UK", which she sang only as a joke and laugh, but the crowd thought she was being serious. At the beginning of her performance when she took the stage Mel said:

"Alright?!! Now, you didn't think you'd see ME up here, did ya?!! Some people might not wanna see up here, but I don't give a fuck!! So, enjoy it anyway."

I also noticed that The Way Of Spice has a video of a news report showing Mel C performing at V99.

Melanie C is complete with her first day of performing at V99. Her performance was 25 minutes long, in which she sang six songs. They were "Soul Believer", "Ga Ga", "Northern Star", "Goin' Down", "Take Me Higher", and "Anarchy In The UK". Most of those songs were rock songs except for "Northern Star", which is a ballad. This time Melanie was wearing a shirt that says "White Trash". Her performance has recieved mixed reviews. Tomorrow Melanie C will perform in Staffordshire, as V99 moves there for it's second day.

Leadmill Gig

Melanie C's gig at the small Leadmill Club in Sheffield took place last night in front of a crowd of 900 people including the other Spice Girls there to support her. Melanie wore a pink t-shirt that said "Fuck me, I'm famous" and performed 12 songs, including of course her new single "Goin' Down" as well as a cover of the Sex Pistol's "Anarchy In The UK", which she sang with them before in Hollywood.(Story) The performance lasted 50 minutes. Her songs went from hard rock, to ones that made the other Spice Girls get out on the dance floor, to slow songs such as "Be The One", which inspired David and Victoria to kiss. At the end of her performance Mel said:

"I know you don't know the songs but thanks for being so supportive. You're the best audience I've ever had. You're the first audience but the best one."

Spice Girls New Book

The Spice Girls have made an update to their official homepage regarding their new book Forever Spice:

'We've just finished compiling a new book called "Forever Spice" and we think you're gonna love it. It's a bit of a behind-the-scenes special all about the pressures, the ups and downs, and everything involved when the Spice Girls hit the road to go touring

'The book's got loads of new pix plus exclusive interviews and we'll let you into some of our secret thoughts on life without Geri, splitting from our manager, homesickness - and, on a brighter note: shopping, partying, performing and hanging out together on tour and back home in the UK... all stuff you might've read about in the papers--but not from us ourselves!!

'We reckon this is going to be the nearest thing to actually being on the road or at band meetings with us - so we hope you like it - check it out when it's published in late November and we're also going to be giving some away from the site as soon as they're hot off the presses!'

Sam Goody Reports November

Rumour

There have been rumors going around lately about a new Spice Girls release this November. Sam Goody music stores in particular have an item that can be reserved which they have listed as called "Spice Box". Many representatives have been saying that it is the new Spice Girls album, and many say they don't know what it is. In reality probably all the representatives really don't know what it is. Some even think Sam Goody is doing this as a popularity stunt. A new twist to this rumor that gives it some logic and possible sense is that "Spice Box" is actually a Spice Girls Greatest Hits Box set which is to be released on November 30. This makes much more sense as the name "Spice Box" for an album doesn't sound quite right and sounds very appropriate for a computer listing of a box set

Rumors are also going around that the third album may be released earlier then originally thought, as soon as the beginnnig of this December or even November. All rumors remember.

Goin'Down Banned Til 7!

MTV Europe viewers will not be able to find the video or even a promo for Melanie C's "Goin' Down" video before 7pm. Executives are worried that younger Spice Girls fans will be too shocked by the video in which Melanie screams into the camera "I am a superbitch, I am not a whore." BBC and ITV are expected to do the same.

Melanie's First Solo Gig

Melanie C's first live show will be at The Leadmill in Sheffield, England. She has chosen the small club herself to make her debut for an audience of 900 people. A spokesman for the club said:

"It should be a really exciting night. We're expecting a full house and we're delighted she has chosen us for her first concert. The crowd is obviously going to be a lot smaller, but we're hoping for a good atmosphere. She chose us because she wanted a nice intimate venue with a bit of history before she appears at the V99 Festival."

Melanie C said:

"The other Mel has gone off and done solo stuff, now it is my turn to have a bit of a scream and shout. The band and the set I am doing is very appropriate for the venue."

Goin'Down

Melanie C's new song "Goin' Down" is available to listen to. You can hear it in our audio section.

Goin' Down Lyrics

Well, Melanie C's song "Goin' Down" has just made it's radio premiere on UK radio! Here are the lyrics, not 100% accurate:

How Come I didn't see, you were making fun of me.
How dare you change the rules, you made me look a fool.
Well, now your gotta see, the last laugh is not on on me.
What am I gonna do to get my revenge on you.
You're Goin' Down. Goin' Down.

Was it just a matter lie or did I did I just breathe a sigh.
What else can I do, I was so into you.
With all this bad look out had, my corner must be bad.
You're played your little games, oh what a shame,
You're Goin' Down. Goin' Down. Goin' Down.

I am singing it loud, and I don't care.
I am singing it proud, everywhere.

I feel no remorse, my life is back on course.
From this little hitch, I have become a superbitch.
But don't be afraid by that confession I made.
I am not a whore, I have gone hardcore.
You're Goin' Down. Goin' Down. Goin' Down. Goin' Down.

I am singing it loud, and I don't care.
I am singing it proud, everywhere.
I am singing it loud, and I don't care.
I am singing it proud, everywhere.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

You're Goin' Down. Goin' Down. Goin' Down. Goin' Down.

Mel C Documentary

Melanie C has commented on her solo work to the official Spice Girls homepage. Mel said:

"My first single's gonna be called Goin' Down and it'll be out around late September and I can f-i-n-a-l-l-y tell you that the album's going to be called Northern Star! Very few people so far have heard my solo stuff and there's been a lot of initial cynicism... which I kind of understand... but that's unfair cos the Spice Girls make brilliant pop music!!"

During the interview, it was revealed that Melanie will also have a Channel 4(UK) documentary done on her entitled Northern Star Again. It will air on August 30 at 5.25pm. Mel also revealed that she will soon be in by herself for a webchat on the official homepage!

Spice Update

Greetings Spice cadets...it's Mel G, Mel C, Emma and Victoria here!

Dunno why, but people are always asking us if we believe in astrology and star signs... we're probably just like you... when our stars say something nice then we're total believers but on the off days we're not so sure!!

Anyway, if you want the truth about what we really, really think, here you go:

Emma: 'I'm actually right on the edge between Capricorn and Aquarius... but I'm definitely mostly Aquarian cos they're meant to get on well with everyone and I guess that I do! I always read my stars... but... hmm I'm definitely not a total believer!'

Victoria: 'From the litle I know about it I think I'm probably quite typical of my sign cos Ariens are meant to be pretty fiery. A lot of people think I'm quiet and might assume I'm a Pisces or Aquarius, but when they get to know me they find I'm quite bossy and I do like to speak up and be in control!

'Actually david is a Taurean and they're supposed to be really romantic - and he is!! - is that just a coincidence??? I think horoscopes are fun to read and have a laugh... but don't take them too seriously... I mean, there's no point moping around cos someone says it isn't going to be your day today! Take them with a pinch of salt!!'

Mel G: I take bits seriously... I'm a Gemini and so is my dad and my sister but we're all compeltely different... but then I do seem to be a bit of a typical Gem. My attention span isn't that great, but I've got a great memory. I'm lively and spontaneously but get bored easily... is that real Gemini or are there two sides to all of us??'

Mel C: 'I'm a bit cynical about astrology, but I always read my stars! People say I'm true to my sign too cos I'm a Capricorn and we're supposed to be hardworking, determined and ambitious (sound familar???). It's also dead important to find out what your rising star is too cos that can influence your personality just as much! Mine is Virgo - and they're reckoned to be perfectionists; sometimes I try to be, but I wonder if it counts if you don't quite get there'

Well, what do YOU think?? You can check out your cyber stars each month by following the link thru to the c3 channel... and if it's written in the stars, you might also win your very own birthchart from c3's mystic chick Angelica B... check it out - and best of luck!!

loads of love

Emma, Mel G, Mel C, and Victoria

RIP Rob Herbert

Bob Herbert, 57 years old, was killed instantly when he lost control of his car in heavy rain and crashed into another car in Windsor, west of London. Bob Herbert was the man originally responsible for the creation of the Spice Girls. He and his son were looking to put together a girl singing group. Herbert is the one who placed the famous advertisement in The Stage asking for auditions for the girl group, to which the Spice Girls responded individually, and he is the one that is responsible for hand picking which girls he felt were most talented, which ended up becoming the Spice Girls. He was responsible for setting them up with a house to live in while they got to know each other and practiced singing together. Without him there would be no Spice Girls, and Emma, Mel C, MelG, and Victoria would not have become good friends. The Spice Girls released an official statement:

"We were all shocked and saddened to hear the news. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family. We know he will be sadly missed. All our love - Melanie C, Melanie G, Emma and Victoria."

Herbert was currently the manager of boy band Five. He lived with his wife Ann, and had a daughter Nicky and son Chris. The Spice Girls left his management on their own decision before the release of their first album. He can be seen in some of the un-official Spice Girls videos speaking very kindly of the girls and how they used to be. My sympathy to his family.

Revenue Issues

There are millions of dollars from worldwide Spice Girls record sales that are missing. The Spice Girls never got the deserved revenue. Lawyers for the Spice Girls are trying to find out what happened and suspect Virgin Records as the culprit. Mike Skeet of the Royalty Compliance Organization is the auditor who has pinpointed shortfalls in the Spice Girls' revenues around the world. Skeet said:

"Virgin appears to have taken huge reserves in the US, far in excess of 15 per cent or 25 per cent for advertised records. In Australia, there is no reporting of sales between December 1997 and February 1998 for the SpiceWorld album. Also, there is no reporting of cassette single sales for Wannabe for May 1997. Although 150,000 records of Too Much were apparently pulped, Virgin has been unable to provide a 'certificate of destruction' to prove they were in fact destroyed rather than sold on. Their claim in the UK alone would be in the region of £1.8million."

Spice Girls' lawyers are demanding detailed explanations from Virgin Records about figures for the America, Australia, Europe, and the UK and are ready to send accountants to America to question Virgin chiefs there about apparent discrepancies in their accounts. Spice Girls lawyer Andrew Thompson is the lead lawyer on the problem. An official statement was made by Spice Girls' main spokesperson Alan Edwards after consulting with Virgin's lawyers:

"We have every confidence that, as a result of our excellent relationship with Virgin Records, any issues will be dealt with swiftly and amicably."
