New Home For The Holiday


As had been reported earlier, Melanie C gave mom Joan and step-dad Dennis O'Neill a great big gift this year.

Three years ago Melanie bought them a pounds 150,000 house, but with constent fans camping out infront of the garden, Melanie C decided to buy them some peace and quiet.

The new pounds 500,000 home is in Rainhill,Merseyside (as previously announced). The has has a 50 ft drive, three reception rooms, two bathrooms, a double garage and is equiped with the latest security. It has a 8 foot high steel gate, tinted windows, several intercoms throughout the house.

Two years ago Melanie C bought dad Alan Chisholm, 48, a pounds 120,000 house in Leeds.

Update hours: I will be gone today, so this is it for today. I'm traveling back to the USA today (wish me luck). I will be updating every other day for sure. I bet you all know how hard it is to get online when you don't have a labtop or notebook, as some like to call it(they are still on my wishlist).

The end of the year is drawing close, very close. I'd like to thank all the loyal and new visitors for your support. This year saw the beginning of this website, and my sturggle to learn and understand HTML. While I may still have a way to go, I believe I have mastered a few skills. Thanks to all of you for that support.

Site News


The new design for the webpage it well on its way, I've already tested it with a few people and they love it, it might not too "innovative" but it does show a better understanding of html and I think it is also a lot easier to read. As soon as new "banners" and "imaes" are created, as well as a full blown photo gallery, I will connect it, for the meanwhile you'll just have to sit tight. I can only reveal a few things at a time, and besides a great gallery of Spice era,Spiceworld era,Northern Star era, and Forever era pictures there will also be some audio stuff, can't reveal what yet....but the peopl who have tested it so far love it. And I sure hope you guys will too. Please don't forget to let me know what you want, this page here is also meant to be helpful to the Melanie C fans out there, that is the goal. The end of the year Global chart is finally in. Melanie C takes the 10th spot on the countdown with "NBTSA" and the 16th spot with "ITTY". The interesting thing is that the highest British artist is Sonique, and she is at number 9, which makes Melanie C the second most popular British artist GLOBALLY of the year 2000! Congrats Melanie C!

Today's Update


No news today, Melanie C is on break with her family. She is spending half the holiday with her mother and step-dad and the rest of the break with her dad. Currently I am working on a new design for the site, I can reveal that I am going to get rid of the Frames which cause a lot of trouble with many of my visitors. Melanie C has taken the second spot on the Favorite Pop Album poll at the Dotmusic website. Madonna took the number one spot with Music. The Spice Girls take the thrid spot with "Forever". Melanie also takes the thrid spot on the Favorite Pop Single with "NBTSA", the Spice Girls take the second spot with "Holler" and Madonna takes the number one spot with "Music". Congrats Melanie! Smash Hits 2001 CD
Now Dance 2001 CD


Despite the cruelness of the Smash Hit Award ceremony, C3 passed down a list of tracks that visitors had requested be on the Smash Hits 2001 cd. The results are in and they can reveal that the Spice Girls, Melanie C, Melanie B and Victoria B were all among the tracks chosen by Smash Hits to be on their cd. Melanie C and the Spice Girls have a double wammy with "Holler", "Let Love Lead The Way", "I Turn To You" and "If That Were Me" all making the cut, the only other artist with two songs is Billie Piper.

Another compelation album with "I Turn To You","Holler" and Melanie B's "Tell Me" is Now Dance 2001. Congrats Girls!

Fox Kids Airs Earls Court


If any of you live in central and south america, you can watch the Spice Girls Earls Court Concert from 1999 on Fox Kids. It is on at different times, so you'll have to check you're local cable guide for further details. The concert includes old favorites and new ones like "Holler", "Right Back At Ya" and "Woman". It is a great great show.

Happy Holidays


Here is an update from yours truly, below is a quick insite on Melanie C's xmas thoughts. I'll be on "vacation" for the next few days, once again far from home and an internet connection. So have fun, take a break and enjoy the holidays. I'll see you once again Dec 26th at night, that is when I'll be updating the site.

Just a quick side note, I am not at my usual desk, I'm using my families computer at there house and the internet service seems to be very poor. I update the page every day in the morning, but I can never view changes immediatly like I did in the US. I know the updates do occur but I don't know how much time goes by till they do, so if it seems like I am a day behind at times i would like to apologies. Worldpop 2000 Poll Results


Worldpop viewers have cast their votes and the results are in. Melanie C received 27% of the votes coming in second place as favorite female artist! Madonna comes in third with 17% of the votes and Britney takes the number one spot with 33% of the votes. "Forever" came in third with 22% of the votes in the favorite album of the year category, Eminem wins that award with 25% of the votes. Ironically the Spice Girls came in third in the worst band category, Westlife won that award. To see the rest of the resutls of who is hot and who is not check out the poll!

Criminal Music Awards?


I don't know what these awards are, but if Eminem, Destiny's Child, All Saints, Blur and Red Hot Chili Peppers are all winners then they must have some credibility. Other winners include the Spice Girls for best video with "Holler" and Melanie C with her solo award for best female solo...Eminem won best male solo. It seems like her dream to work with Eminem may be closer than we think. Westlife won worst album, single and group!

Tidbits


The below information has been collected for different sources, none of which I can confirm for sure, so read on and believe at your own risk. ;)
  • Singapore's "8 Days Magazine" had an interview with Mel B. She stated that the Girls would do a world tour around the end of next year and visit countries they haven't been to in a long time like, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
  • Spice Girls are number 1 on Argentina's Musica Total.
  • Mel C was in Canada over the weekend at an HMV store, and performed for around 3,000 to 5,000 people. She stated in an interview afterwards, there will be no Spice Tour next year, she herself would be touring, she will be returning to Canada in March, and among other things, the girls ARE NOT breaking up.
  • If you happen to be in Indonesia on December 25th, be sure to turn to TPI (Televisi Pendidikan Indonesia), at either 11.00PM or 10.00AM I've gotten mixed emails so I'm not sure, on the 25th for "Spice Girls 'LIVE' at Earl's Court" Be sure to check your local listings for times.
  • A Spicenews.com reader from Brazil sends word that 'Forever' has sold over 100,000 copies, check out Virgin Brazil for more info, also another reader sends that Directv will be showing 'Party in the Park 2000' on December 21st.

Cool Spice


In a recent interview Dr.Dre stated " I am a big fan of the Spice Girls--but not because of their music. My favorite? I'd have to say Sporty Spice because I hung out with her one night. We talked for close to an hour in a bar in Hollywood- just kicking it around. I loved her personality."

Will Dr.Dre team up with Melanie in her next album, with a comment like that it doesn't seem like it would be out of line.

I Love Life Right Now


Melanie C performed five songs during a 45-minute unplugged show on Thursday for radio contest winners in Toronto and spoke to fans about her desire to help children with eating disorders.

Mel told fans she'd like to help fans suffering from eating disorders, but would 'do it privately.' Melanie performed If That Were Me, Never Be The Same Again, Closer, Be The One and Goin' Down from her year-old Northern Star album which has already sold more than 50,000 copies in Canada. About 100 contest winners attended the session at Toronto's Ted's Wrecking Yard for radio station 103.5.

Meanwhile, Mel has again denied media speculation that the Spice Girls are splitting up and she has spoken of her hopes of collaborating with Lenny Kravitz as well as recording again with Bryan Adams with whom she scored a No 1 with When You're Gone.

She told the Toronto Star, 'Nobody is leaving. I know there have been a lot of rumours in the press about me leaving, or about the band splitting up. You know, we're not going to split up. We're going to be together for a long time. Even if you don't see us out there performing, nobody's going, cos we like being together. We're not going to be touring as the Spice Girls for the next year.'

Mel admitted the girls are disappointed with sales of Forever - just 50,000 in Canada and America. 'It's been disappointing. We do thinkit's probably our best album, musically, but we completely understand the game and how it works and we've not promoted this record like we've promoted our others.' She added the girls have 'different priorities' with both Mel B and Victoria having had children adding, 'at the moment, I'd be a liar if I wasn't to say definitely the solo record is making me a lot happier.'

Mel's Northern Star has already sold more than 2.2 million copies; worldwide.

Dotmusic's half time poll are in, so far Melanie C takes the second spot on the best pop album with "Northern Star", right behind Maddy herself. "I'm enjoying my solo work more than the Spice Girls," Mel C., the artist occasionally known as Sporty Spice, admitted to a roomful of fans Thursday night at Toronto's Ted's Wrecking Yard. During the "103.5 Mel C. Christmas Party," as it was dubbed by the sponsoring radio station, Melanie Chrisholm played three sets of two songs each, accompanied by guitarist/backing vocalist Claire Nicolson, percussionist Fergus Gerrand and guitarist Paul Gendler. In between, she answered questions from about a dozen contest winners. (There were 103 in attendance.) In the club setting, decorated with red drapes and Christmas ornaments, Mel C. stuck to material from her year-old debut solo album, Northern Star, which has sold a respectable 2.2 million copies worldwide. Wearing a long-sleeve blue "67" t-shirt and jeans, she stood confidently at the mike, swinging her hips sexily, while belting out "If That Were Me" and "Never Be the Same Again," before pausing for the question period. Commended on handling the recent onslaught of press about her depression and eating disorder, she revealed that she would like to help out children with eating disorders "but do it privately." She also addressed the homeless issue on "If That Were Me," after which she recommended giving "a coupla quid or dollars" directly to the hands of a street-person even if it might go to "a fix to get them through the next day." For the second short set, she sang "Closer" and "Northern Star," the latter containing the lyric, "They build you up, so they can tear you down," a reference to the press written long before the Spice Girls' new album Forever sold dismally out of the box. During the second Q&A, when asked about Irish pop stars Westlife -- Spice Girls' chart rivals in the U.K. -- she admitted, "I really don't like their music," being sure to add that "they're nice guys." Before capping off the forty-five-minute appearance with "Be the One" and a rockin' "Goin' Down," Mel C. reflected on her solo accomplishments this past year. "I was quite surprised how good I was . . . There's more to me than Sporty Spice."

Edmonton Ahoy!


Melanie C will be on the HMV stage at the West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton (Alberta Canada) this Friday at 7 pm! Melanie C is promoting her solo album aswell as the Spice Girls thrid album intitled "Forever". Melanie C's first Alberta visit will be in the "Intimate and Interactive" formula. She will play a couple of songs followed by answering questions, then she will play a bit more and answer a bit more questions. To be sure to get an autograph Power 92 is giving away free VIP passes. But the show will be open to all viewers, so even if you don't manage to get an autograph you will be able to hear and see the whole extravaganza! Virgin Music Rep Rick Ridsdale says that they are expecting many fans since "...this is Melanie C of the Spice Girls at Christmas time in a mall". So join in the fun, remember admission is free. The She will be at the West Edmonton Mall on this Friday starting 7 pm.

The Spice Girls have not done very well at the award ceremnoy for Smash Hits magazine this weekend. The Girls won worst album, worst single and worst video. Melanie C got the worst haircut award, again, most likely for the same haircut....the spikey-do. Sounds like the British are very sarcastic to say the least. The Spice Girls are still their strongest export band, yet they have constantly been bashing them for the last two years. Ironically the girls are still wildly succesful in the UK and world-wide.

Here To Stay Forever


Melanie C was recently interviewed and told people not to go Doogying the Spice Girls. When asked about the thrid album and its "chart failure" Melanie C said she thought it was succesful by far. She pointed out that the Spice Girls did not promote this album like they did the previous two and that they didn't plan to promote it as heavily. She claims that the Spice Girls wanted to balance their lives. With the first two albums they worked too hard, they didn't see fmaily for months at a time. This "over-wroking" is what lead to the first big rift when Geri Halliwell decided to walk out on the five piece since she missed being "normal". Now the Spice Girls, with solo interests and families of their own, want be able to concentrate on seeing the business and family aspect of their lives work out succesfully aswell. Based on this alone the album has sold quit well and they hope that as time goes by, and word of mouth spreads, the album "Forever" will climb the charts.

She performed once, made an interview where she told Regis the Spice Girls were still together and then Regis asked her if she would please perform I TURN TO YOU again, to which Melanie C said "Yes." About World Tour Next Year


Melanie C has talked about touring next year. She claims she will tour the world on her own and then join up with the Spice Girls for a tour together. The Spice Girls tour will once again include solo work, and not much more about was said. Melanie C said she had something to prove with her music and for that reason alone was it very important for her to make sure that she promoted her music, thus the emphasis on her solo career.

Stop The Saturation


The Spice Girls will not be starring in their next video release. "Tell Me Why" will be follow-up single to "Holler". The Spice Girls hope to stop media saturation. Often times media saturation stops a great band in its tracks, and the Spice Girls hope to sell their music by promoting the music and not the group. For this reason they have decided that the song must be released in as much of an anonomous way as possible, and the means no Spice Girls on the video. They are also talkign with lawyers and trying to stop the airing of the "Before They Were Star" documentary that was planned to air this Christmas season. ITV want to air the program which promises to show the Spice Girls at their rawest, before they were the polished personas they are today. But the Spice Girls want to put a stop to such media saturation, becuase as they see it at the moment it is not helping them out at all. Not all publicity seems to be good, despite what they say. Further details will be available as soon as ITV lets the public know whether or not they win the case. Hopefuly the Spice Girls will win the case.

Another West Slam


Once again pathetic Westlife have slammed the Spice Girls, Christina Aguilera and Ronan Keating all at the same time! Westlife claimed, once again, that "Forever" was "rubbish" and that the only good decent tracks on the album were "Holler" "let Love Lead The Way" and "Oxygen"...maybe they should listen to the album again, cause they could learn a few things from the Fab Four. They also claimed there sucess did not lie on Ronan, and that Ronan was less succesful then they are. They then went for the killl claiming that Christina Aguilera was a "big cow". On the nice side they did claim the Spice Girls were responsible for putting England and Ireland back into the map musically.

The Spice Girls album has sold very well worldwide, despite massive promotion. Lets see if the boys can create any splash without having to force themselves onto the public. It is as one fan said...."Westlife have prostituted themselves....I have no respect for them now".

Home For Christmas


Rumour Tabloids are claiming that due to massive stress Melanie will be spending Christmas with her mother in her new home. Melanie will try to use the time to straighten things up. Honestly...I think they are inventing this. "On Saturday, December 9th at 6 pm on channel 10 there will be a Spice Girls special. Total Sales


According to some sales figures the Spice Girls have sold a total of 41.5 million albums worldwide since their debut album. We are to assume that the intial 32 million are based on Spice and Spiceworld and the rest are due to "Forever" sales. Melanie C is said to have sold 2.1 million and Geri 3.2 million.

To me these figures, especially Melanie C's total sales, sound wrong....Melanie C won an award for having one of the top selling album of 99 along with Bon Jovi's Crush. So I am to assume that Geri had sold less copies since she did not win the award (remember that both girls released their album in 99. Geri promoted her album heavily during the first few months of release, Melanie C didn't. Melanie C also released her album late 99, Geri released hers early 99).

I don't know where these figures are derived from, but they are still interesting.
