07-31-00 NBTSA US PROMO EIL.com has a great offer for us Mel C fans! They just got the promo cd for NBTSA and it includes a new edit titled the Kung Pow Edit. I haven't heard it...but that little edit completely has driven me to purchase the cd. Anyway they also have the ITTY promo single both as a cd and as a vinyl. Both ITTY singles ae different. I guess the rumor has been proven to be true, since the US single is already available. Melanie C will be cinging her way throught the US as she has through the world with the smash hit NBTSA! 07-31-00 NBTSA Canadian PROMO My friend D.B. recently contacted Virgin Records Canada to find out whether or not NBTSA or any other Melanie C single would be released in Canada. This was their reply. I sure hope that isn't the response Virgin America will give fans either....even though I am positive it'd be the same. Let's just hope NBTSA gets so much airplay that they'll think it twice and decide to release a single. Hi Actually, our current single is "Never Be The Same Again" - but this can only be heard on the radio or if you have the CD - it will not be made available as a CD single. The best way to catch the song is to hear it on your local POP radio station (and if their not playing it, you should call them and DEMAND they do play it!!!) or to grab the full length CD, entitled "Northern Star". We do not know at this point what the next single after NBTSA will be, but it will likely not be released as a CD single either. Sorry! 07-31-00 Music Chart Stats Northern Star is doing extremely well on the music scene. The debut album has climbed the UK 75 Albums Chart to number 20 after being at number 24 last week....and off the chart a month ago! Congrats Melanie! NBTSA, the chart topping hit, still reigns on the WorldPop Golbal Chart. The track stands at number 15 this week, falling from number 11 last week. We also find NBTSA on the Top 20 2000 chart at number 8 and on the UK R'N'B Albums at number 32. NBTSA also charts high on the World Chart Show, crashing at number 19 after charting at number 14 last week....and number 15 the week before last. Great Success! Congrats again Melanie! 07-31-00 A Double Wammy Melanie C was on morning show T4(UK) this morning and said that the new Spice Girls single will be a double A-Side of "Let Love Lead The Way" and "Holler Holler". She said that the video for "Let Love Lead The Way" was filmed last week and the video for "Holler Holler" will be filmed soon. She also mentioned that the single will be released between September and November. Melanie gave the same news last night on BBC Radio 1. 07-28-00 Will Be Out Hi everyone. This has sparked a few rumors about them reconciling. Yet, in a recent interview Melanie and J both expressed a mutual agreement about the split. Yet J told the reporter that both Melanie and him were the best of friends and that they have not ruled out getting back together in the near or far future. The album has been jumping up the charts the past few weeks, after a very slow but far descent, yet the album has jumped up to number 24 on the UK 75 Albums Chart. Congrats Melanie..I am sure we can expect a further leep with the approach of the ITTY single's release and a lot more promotion for the album. =0) Never Be The Same is still playing strong, a definite solo success! The 25-year-old, who is currently at Number One with Five's version of the Queen hit 'We Will Rock You', has told UK entertainment magazine 'Heat' that he still very much dating the Spice Girl. J said:"Mel and I are still seeing each other" and he denied he had ever cheated on a girlfriend. The singer did admit that he has finished most of his previous relationships as he's too ambitious to settle down just yet. He said: "I love kids to bits, and everyone says I'm good with them and around them, but I've got too much stuff, dreams, aspirations and goals." Here is some news: Former boyfriend of Mel C Jason Brown of boy group Five spoke in an interview about his relationship and breakup with Mel. He said: "We realised over time that it wouldn't work because we were too good friends. I have spoken to Mel a lot since we split. We are still really good mates and nothing has changed. It was all very amicable. In fact, we went out for dinner last night. It was very nice. We have kept in touch and she is a very close friend. We were only seeing each other for a couple of months. There were no plans for marriage or moving in, so it wasn't too heartrending for either of us. I didn't tell anyone that we had split because we didn't intend to say anything. Check it out here 07-21-00 Mel C Gives It Up For Charity; View Interview Or read Local Copy Mel C tells worldpop that she plans to give all the royalties from her next single If That Were Me straight to charity. In a meaty video interview with worldpop the northern star expresses her wish to help the homeless. This worldwide problem inspired Mel to write the lyrics for the track due to be the last single released from her debut solo album. 'Charity work is something that's fab to get involved in especially if it's a cause you feel really strongly about,' says Mel. She adds that cancer charities are also causes she wishes to do more work for in the future because, 'like almost everyone it's something that's touched my life.' The Spice Girl plans to spread the cash among relevant charities across the world. The size of donations offered to organisations in each region will be determined by the royalties made on local sales of the single. Back in her early days with the Spice Girls the successful solo star joined her now ex-band mate Geri Halliwell on a moonlight mission distributing food among the homeless of London. 'I've got a house. I'm happy,' says Mel of her situation now since becoming one of the richest female singers in the UK. 'I've got my London and Liverpool pads and that's all I need.' Rumours and gossip about her sexuality have constantly dogged the singer, who has just broken up with her boyfriend J Brown of 5ive. "At the moment everyone thinks I'm a butch dyke," complains Sporty Spice. "But they don't know me. Really, I'm just a soft girl." It is horrible that the press would go back to this after her split with J. It is horrible, it isn't as if she hasn't suffered enough. I just wish they'd stop the aligations, the aligations obviously bother her. Furthermore...Melanie would admitt it if she was gay but she isn't. Why should she prove anything to them. Why should she be seen sleeping with 100's of guys to be considered straight...sleeping around makes women and men something more than straight. It makes them trash. I support Mel 100% for being a great role model for her fans, and for not giving up on her morals in order to please the press who either want her to admitt being gay (which she isn't) or show the press she sleep around (which would make them label her a bad role model...at the least). 'I've been very inspired for my new album,' she says referring to events in her personal life over the past year. 'It's gonna be very bitter and twisted!' Mel claims that since suffering a hammering from the tabloids over a string of stories including her supposed weight gain and her rumoured romantic liaisons, she's relied more and more heavily on just one person to get her through these troubled times -herself. 'Really, I Turn To You is about me,' explains Mel. 'No matter how much support and love you've got around you there's only one person who can make it better and that's yourself.' Melanie C was among the few singer who actually sang live. Spice girl Mel C added fuel to the miming row when she said she disagreed with it. Mel, like Posh wearing hair extensions, said: "I think when you go to see bands you don't go to see them mime. I don't agree with artists miming." Yeah, we've had former Spicer, Ginger, and Sporty Mel C is currently World Chartin', but what's up with the group? Now the last time we heard from the Spice Girls all together was when "My Strongest Suit" was on the World Chart almost exactly a year ago. So what have they been up to since then? All of the Spices except Victoria, Posh Spice, worked on solo projects. Emma, Baby Spice, and Mel C, Sporty Spice, both even made it on to the World Chart. No such luck for Mel B, also known as Scary Spice, but she's certainly been busy. Mel married dancer Jimmy Gulzar, had a baby girl, Phoenix, and then divorced her new husband. Victoria also had a baby; she has a little boy, named Brooklyn with her husband, UK soccer star David Beckham. Together, the girls are working on a new album. Working very closely with hot young producer Rodney Jerkins, who we profile in this week's show. The new album doesn't have a name yet, but it should be released in September and the first single is scheduled for August. Check out Northern-Star.co.uk for the video. No cdstore has added promo singles or advanced orders of the forth coming single, but I will warn you all the second the single is available. Now a little news about the site. I am looking into moving the site to another server. The reason being that I want to be able to keep a much longer archive than I have up to this date. I am considering deleting the mulitmedia section because I don't think the NBTSA video ever functioned well, and the "I Turn To You" video isn't full and takes forever to download and play. This all might change with the new server and all....but we'll just have to wait and see. After being verbally abused by Five fans last week, Melanie C bounced back to the cd:uk cafeteria and spent ages signing autographs for her fans…
