She stated, "No one knows me at all, and everyone seems to have had their go at slagging me off...I have been in tears when I've been called fat and a lesbian. It's hurtful, and no one but me really has a clue about my life. Like any woman, I'm not happy that I've put on a bit of weight, but no one has the right to criticise me so unpleasantly about it. Yes, I've been depressed and I want to stand up to everyone and say I am suffering from depression but it's all right to be depressed. People seem to forget I'm only 25. I am just a young girl at the end of the day and I just want to get on with my music. Everyone keeps saying I want to quit and it's true I've had my problems about being a Spice Girl but it's something I can handle. Melanie C will also be performing in Canada at West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta Canada Dec 15th! Canada, don't miss this great chance. ! 11-23-00 Happy Thanksgiving! Well, to all those visitors from the USA, and to all those who aren't in the USA but still celebrate Thanksgiving, have a great day with your families and friends! 11-23-00 No Jingle Ball "We hate to bring bad news, but due to exhaustion, Mel C has been forced to cancel her commitments on the west coast, which includes the taping of Jay Leno Show and the End Jingle Ball!" 11-23-00 Record Of The Year Melanie C's "Never Be The Same Again" is one of twenty records that are lined up to be this years Record Of The Year. The Spice Girls were surprisingly not able to make it into the semi-finalist crowd, but Melanie C and Lisa's effort surely payed off. You know what to do. 11-23-00 Tabloids Strike Hard Rumour Recent rumours have it that the Spice Girls will be putting out another album but the future of the band twelve months from now is still uncertain.A band insider claims that Melanie C's depression has really hit bottom ground. The three Spice Girls are concerened about her health and are trying to be very supportive. They want what is best for her. In recent interviews Melanie C has talked about her insecurities about being in the band and going on solo. But with the recent sales of "Forever" not topping the UK and US charts many critics call it quitting time for the four piece. The Spice Girls PR's have said several times that no such talk of splitting up has happened and that the Girls are content with the sales of their latest album, which was in no way promoted in the USA by Virgin America. But it seems that the constant nacking from tabloids on her personal life and her musical success, including the Spice Girls future and so forth, has taken its poll on Melanie. I doubt the Spice Girls will be splitting up at any time soon, they are far too good for that, plus they have a business together, they'll be together no matter what, even if they go solo for a while. Anyway I just hope Melanie C realizes that she has a great bunch of fans that support her and would do anything to see her happy. To us she is the biggest winner from the whole bunch. 11-22-00 Mel C Plays G.A.Y Melanie C will be performing her first gig at London's Club G.A.Y SATURDAY NOV 25th . The All Saints and the Spice Girls as well as Geri Halliwell have played the club before. The club inspired and helped Geri on her third single taking it in to number 1. Let's hope it does the same for Melanie C. Melanie C's support act will be none other than Madonna's main back-up singers the ones who have appeared on the "Music" and "Vogue" videos to count a few. The show is destined to be a smash! If you plan to go, visit G.A.Y's official site at http://www.g-a-y.co.uk/eventdetail.asp?ID=23 and print out a voucher. 11-21-00 Sorry Bout That Big Apologies to all the faithful visitors. I have been out of my house for five days, and had a heart attack when I realised all the computers I had for use did not have Zip Disk drives. Therefore, luckily, Melanie C saved me. Along with her cds I carry my cd with the original FTP files...therefore I just was able to install the program and am now updating the site for you. Thanks again for being so loyal and visiting. =0) 11-21-00 Another BreakUp Yawn Yawn Yawn Rumour The Spice Girls once again have flooded UK tabloids, and they say the girls no longer have Spice. Curent rumour in the tabloids is that the Girls are ready to call it quits. The Girls have always made big decisions at the EMA's, so a source claims, and this year they spoke a lot about the future of the group. "Insiders" claim a lot of jealousy towards Melanie C and her successful solo outting, and a big change in attitude from the former Sporty one. Once having been easily palyed, it seems the Spice Girls with the sporty outlook is ready to give her fans all they wish, and is not ready to compromise. In a recent show, the Frank Skinner one, Melanie C claimed that she had been doing far better than imagined since "leaving" the Spice Girls. She then quickly corrected herself and said, "well since I've gone solo I mean". The Spice camp was very wuick on sending out a statemnt claiming that there was no bitterness between the Girls and that they were all still an integral part of the quartet. But one can't help wonder if the Spice with the most talent will eventually give in and go solo completely. "Northern Star" had been a comeplete success gaining a lot of new fan base, and with that comes the ever so hard job of keeping fans happy by releasing more music...and with the Spice Girls new album out, one can't help but think if that will delay the next solo outing for Melanie C. 11-21-00 2000 Edition Northern Star Finally got my hands on the USA's 2000 edition of "Norther Star". Can't tell you too much about it. The cover is the same and all. But the sticker on the album has changed. I now reads "includes bonus tracks- radio mixes of the current smash club track 'I Turn To You' and the #1 UK smash 'Never Be The Same Again' also features 'Northern Star' and 'Goin Down'" Nice to see Virgin using th success of "I Turn To You" to promote the album, yet again it would help if they have put the stats on something else than the album, cause whoever is buying the album already nows the success of thsoe tracks. they need this on prosters and they need to play the singles on the radio and also release singles off the album. 11-21-00 I Might Be Pregnant In a recent interview, Melanie C told fans about her fear of having been the third Spice Girl to have a baby. Melanie C claimed that at the time of the rumour that a new spice baby was on the way, she truly believed it must have been her. She beleived that the weight gain and that fact that she has been very close with her recent boyfriend, she beleived the public new something that she did not. Therefore, Melanie C ran to the nearest pharmecy and bought a home pregnancy test. The results were negative. Mel claims she would love to have children someday, but is not sure that now is the time. She claims that she wants too much from life at the moment, and she wants to give her child everythign she can, and she doesn't want to sacrifice one for the other. For the time being, Melanie C will be avoiding baby showers. She also claimed that the reason that J Brown and her were not able to better there relationship was because of the medias constant appearance, and that is one thing she is not ready to comfront at the moment with a family of her own. 11-21-00 On CD:UK Melanie C was full of beans as usual despite having spent last night performing on Children In Need. Mel told us she's happy to do as much work as she can to ensure her new single "If That Were Me" is a big hit. "The proceeds from the single are going to homelessness charities," she explains," I always give sapre change to homeless people but that's nothing. Hopefully the single can raise lots more money for them." Good Luck Melanie! What was Melanie C singing all morning long backstage at CD:UK? Baha Men's "Who Let The Dogs Out"! 11-21-00 You Kandu The Difference All proceeds from "If That Were Me" will go the the homeless charity http://www.kandu-arts.com 11-20-00 Forever DVD "Forever More" is the Spice Girls recent DVD "single". The DVD includes the videos to the most recent singles off the latest album "Forever", "Holler" and "Let Love Lead The Way", plus the video for "Goodbye". 11-17-00 New TV Dates UK In preparation to the fifth single, "If That Were Me" whose proceeds will go to the homeless, Melanie C will be performing and appearing in a few TV shows from now to Dec 12. Check them out UK, the list is at the right-hand side. 11-17-00 Last Night ![]() **Melanie C looks so beautiful** STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - The Spice Girls, back together after pursuing solo careers, said it was great to be out there performing again -- even if the ordeal was a bit nerve-racking. They joined a dozen of the world's top acts -- from Madonna to Ricky Martin -- in the line-up of performers for Thursday night's MTV Europe Awards. Emma Bunton, reflecting on their live show before an estimated one-billion-strong television audience, said: "It was very nerve-racking but it is so much more fun when we do it together." "I am a bit gobsmacked. It all went so quickly," said Mel C afterwards. And Posh Spice Victoria, barely off the tabloid front pages since her marriage to Manchester United soccer star David Beckham, was relaxed about their solo careers. "At the end of the day if it wasn't for us being a group, we wouldn't be doing our own thing anyway. It's great. We are really proud to be up there," she told Reuters Television. Mel C was short-listed for two awards at the ceremony and her fellow Spice Girls teased her. "It is only Melanie that is doing well at the moment," Mel B said. "No, shut up. We have all had hit singles," Mel C retorted. The Spice Girls, brought together as a manufactured pop group after they answered an advertisement in an entertainment trade newspaper, have proved to be Britain's most successful pop band since The Beatles when it comes to worldwide sales. They have survived the departure of the fifth Spice Girl -- "Ginger Spice" Geri Halliwell -- and appear more determined than ever to make a success of their third album. PRESS OBSESSION Their first single from the album went straight to the top of the hit parade but the album lost out in a much hyped battle of the album charts with Irish boyband Westlife. Pop critics have constantly written obituaries for the Spice Girls and Mel B complained that people still do think of the group as one hit wonders. "It's nine hit wonders," said Bunton with a chuckle, reflecting on their worldwide success and record sales that have topped 30 million. Mel C, looking back on their meteoric rise to fame, said: "We looked good. We just came well packaged." They may have just come together for the new album but the Spice Girls have an unerring ability to be frontpage news in Britain's celebrity-obsessed tabloids with much of the coverage centering on their image -- was "Posh Spice" too thin? Was Mel C facing a weight problem? Mel C said: "A couple of things were said about me in the media -- one was about weight and one was about depression." Explaining why she had decided to talk frankly about her depression, she said: "It is just a common thing depression. It is an illness -- try and get the stigma away from it. It's not really anybody's business." Mel B agreed when asked about the need to be a healthy role model for young, impressionable fans: "At the end of the day, you have got a responsibility but that shouldn't overshadow the way you are naturally. Nobody is perfect." 11-17-00 10 Day Spice World Tour After recent rumours that the Spice Girls last performance together was last night, new reports claim that the music insiders told journalsits that the Spice Girls' agents are busy planning a 10 day world tour. Spice Fans need not fear. The Spice is still very much alive. 11-16-00 "Stop The Rubbish" The Spice Gilrs have called for a "revolution in the music scene" today after performing "Holler" at the MTV EMA's. Melanie C added that the Spice Girls still were concidering touring next year but were not 100% certain that the tour will happen, but they are not giving up on the idea. Melanie also predicts an imminent "musical revoultion", to sweep away corporate control and manufactured pop. Dotusic held a poll asking visitors which artist will sweep the board at the MTV music awards, Most visitors believed Melanie C would win all the categories, follwoing Eminem, and Britney Spears. Westlife came in last out of the four choices. It seems like many UK fans feel cheated to see Melanie C not getting her much deserved awards. And I must agree. 11-16-00 Excellent Competition Though many fans voted for Melanie C, she was unable to steal the crown of glory from such acts like Madonna and Robbie Willims. Madonna is too much for any artist to run up against, she is too popular, too well known, and receives great reviews no matter what she does. Robbie Williams has also come a long ways in his solo career winning over fan base worldwide. The two acts where just too popular for the run, but it is still great to see that Melanie C has what it takes to be nominated and compared to such world reknown acts. Perhpas next-time we will be able to give her the award. A slight comentaqry from my part on the awards. It seems that the European Music Awards end up being another way to congratulate the American music industry. Most nominees where not European, as a matter of fact the majority minus 8 were actually American artists who have already gained a wide fan base all over the world. Most of the European artist who are nominated are not reknown worldwide, and it seems almost unlikely for the European choice to win when the all so popular choice is present. My commentary is that perhaps the European Music Awards should be based on how well a European artist does in their neighboring countries and not how well American Musicians do in the European market. I think that for her hard work and success in several European nations, Melanie C definetly deserved the European Music Award for Best New Act, Best Song and Best Female. Never Be The Same Again was one of the years largest playing tracks on the radio, hitting the top spot in most European cities, that was a large success that nobody can deny, and if that song deosn't deserve the award for Best Song I can't think of any other track that should or that can compare to the impact NBTSA had on the air waves. Blink 182 is not a "new" act, a new act is that which has only one album under their belt, they've already had two, and were on the way to three by the time the award was aired. Blink 182's first album bombed in the US market and never made it internationally. Melanie C's "Northern Star" was a great success in Europe and in the UK. Perhaps it didn't do well in the US, but the award ceremony is about European Music not the United States. Fot this reason alone, Melanie C deserved that award as well, for "Northern Star" was one of the larget selling debut album of 99, for such reason she got the Platinum Music Award for the album. Last but not least due to the success of her solo tour, and for such reason the planning of yet another solo tour, as well as two number 1 singles, two number 4 singles, and a chart topping number 4 album Melanie C deserved the award for Best Female on the European Music Scene. Her album gracefully mixed several different sounds, was sung brilliantly and was very much on its own category. Becuase of the way the award ceremnoy was held I think she was cheated of the awards she deserves. Maybe next time she will win, once she has become more settled as a solo artist worldwide, for the meantime you fans did a brilliant job. Thanks to all those who voted. If you agree or disagree with me please email me. From my part I would like to congratulate Melanie C for the nominations, I wish her better luck next time around, and would like to state the fact that she is a shinning winner in everyone of her fans eyes. "I see the ocean in your eyes" 11-16-00 ITTY On The Box The US music station, The Box, has recently added Melanie C's "I Turn To You" to their list of videos. The song number is 245, "Holler" is number 305. 11-16-00 TRL Success "Holler" has premiered at number 8 on the TRL countdown. Continue the great work and vote for the girls daily. It is a great number and I am sure that the promo will help the Spice Girls move up the Billboard Chart, and both Rodney Jerkins and the Spice Girls will appreciate the fans support. You can call 1-800 DIAL MTV or check out the source link above. When calling the votes are only counted during 3-3:30 pm EST, so you must call during that half hour. Follow the instructions, the first three letters of the artist are the numbers 774. 11-15-00 Rodney Mad! With "Forever" entering at number 39 in the US album Chart, Rodney Jerkins called up Virgin and stood up for the Girls. Rodney asked Virgin excecutives why "Forever" was not promoted better in the USA. Virgin reps told Rodney that it was only in "phase one of the promotion", to which Rodney answered " If you don't get phase one correct how will you get phase two correct?" Virgin Excecutives did not want to go on record with any statment. I think it is a shame that Virgin messes up so much with promotion for their artists especially when they are not "domestic". The Spice Girls had great success while Virgin was not owned by EMI, but it seems that the transition has affected their treatment for their artists. How can a record company put out a cd without even premiereing the first single before...a single's purpouse is to promote the album. "Forever" could not have been expected to do well on its first week when no one states-side had heard the "holler" single. The single was only premiered this Monday on TRL. The album is the best work yet according to many news sources like Billboard, USA Today and People magazine...but even with great promo like that, without hearing a sample no one is going to spend their money, they'll buy the cd which they've heard a sample from...I'm glad to see that Rodney is just as mad at Virgin as all the Spice Girls fans who can not believe Virgin would let the girls hard work go down the drain by not promoting it in a excellent manner. 11-15-00 Melanie; Spice Days Ending Rumour Mel C has admitted that the group are set to split. The disclosure has come just days after the Holler girlies' album was beaten to the number one spot in Britain by Westlife. Mel admits that poor album sales in the UK and around the globe of this third album, Forever, may signal the end of the now, not so mighty Spices. She reveals, "We're really not sure about our future at the moment. We are going to see how everything goes. We all do enjoy our Spice work but we are having a really hard time at the moment and we've gotten to a stage where we just want to be happy. We're not interested in striving to be the best anymore, we've done that and we just want to do the things that we'll mean something again. And if we get more fulfilment from our solo careers, then that's what we will do." Mel also said that the last chance fans will get to see the foursome together will be at the MTV MUSIC AWARDS in Stockholm this week. She adds, "There will be no Spice tour. Next year I'll be doing a solo tour. Emma and Victoria will be releasing their own albums and Mel B will be working on her follow up album. The last chance we will probably all be together on stage is at the MTV music awards. After that I don't know. " Sounds like an era really may be coming to an end this time for those wannabes. 11-15-00 Help The US Holler Still massive confusion on where or not the Spice Girls "Forever" will chart high on the Billboard Chart or not, some people believe it will definetly enter in the Top 30, which would be great acheivement for the group who have been out of the music scene in America for three years and who chose not to promote the album. Yet, other people believe the album will flop. Come on, Spice Fans buy the album, request "Holler" on TRL and help the Spice Girls out. 11-15-00 "Forever" Review The pop landscape has changed quite a bit since the Spice Girl's last group offering three years ago. Pouty teens and pimp-rockers are ruling the roost, and it's hard to factor the camp quarter(sadly minus the delectable Geri Halliwell) shouldering its way into the fray with any kind of relevance--that is until you hear the remarkably potent "Forever". Largely produced by red-hot hip-hop maestro Rodney Jerkins, the set oozes with timely funk beats and the kind of well-crafted songs that No. 1 hits are made of. It's also a fairly serious effort. No giddy declarations ala "Wannabe" here. Rather, the gals delve deep into love of a far more adult nature--and they do so with more gusto and more soul than ever before. Although it takes a moment to get used to the concept of a "serious" Spice Girls, they pull it off quite nicely, often conjuring images of an Anglo-fied Destiny's Child. It's a dicey move for an act whose career is built on frivolity, but it's also a wise one. 11-14-00 If That Were Me ![]() The cover of the If That Were Me enhanced cd. I think the best cover yet! She looks beautiful 11-14-00 Melanie C Joins All Saints...What About The Spice? After a up publicized "bust up" between Melanie Blatt and the rest of the All saints, the group decided to play a joke on the tabloids and give them somtehing else to talk about. The girls, who were playing club G.A.Y. had been out drinking with best friend Melanie C, and when Melanie C suggested she help them cause a destraction the All Saints accepted. Melanie C replaced Melanie Blatt for a few minutes in the opening of the show. Once on stage the fans were confused, had the split really happened, had Melanie C ditched the Spice Girls for the Saints? Then Melanie Blatt walked on stage and said "HEY YOU OUT OF HERE!". All five girls had a blast with that one. 11-14-00 Top 30! Despite Westlife's attacks that the Spice Girls "Forever" was a flop in the states, where no major promo work ahs come into play, reports from Worldpop journalists states otherwise. The Spice Girls are expected to enter the charts in the Top 30, and are expected to move up as Holler finally premiered yesterday in the US, it was the first time the single was played on a much viewed program. "Forever" has already topped the charts in Israel going in at number 1! It has sold well in Canada, selling 300,000 copies its first week, and also in Brazil selling 100,000 copies in its first week. The real test will be the Christmas sales. It is time for the fans to act and promote the album, request it on the radios and TRL. The more the air play the more people will hear the new sound and most likely purchase the cd. 11-14-00 Bad Robbie! Melanie C talked to the BBC Radio 1 recently and told them she admired Robbie as an artist but would never work with him. She told the press she would not want to upset best firend Nicole Appleton and she also added Robbie was rude. "He's very rude about myself and Geri. He need to think about what he's saying. He is not funny any more." This comes after Robbie anounced he had been in two Spice Girls at one of his most recent gigs where Geri was amongst the crowd! 11-14-00 Melanie C Is Top Spice! Visit the link above to read the full lowdown. In a recent poll fans said that their favorite Spice Girl was Melanie C, the favorite solo project was "Never Be The Same Again". Way to go...mine too. 11-14-00 Vote Holler Yesterday was the premiere of "Holler" on Total Request Live, a US MTV program that aims at playing videos that are requested by fans, it is a countdown of the most solicited videos. The Spice Girls filmed a small intorduction to the video a few minutes before the "Forever" party, and the small interview was aired seconds before the "Holler" video. Like all things Spice, the video was full of humour. The Spice Girls confuse the video they are itnroducing and talk a little about Let Love LEad The Way before realizing the mistake and laughing it off. All in all a great interview. No matter whare you live, visit the TRL website on the MTV USA page and vote here for the Spice Girls. Lets get them into the top 5 of the countdown. 11-13-00 Get Ready For "ITWM" Start saving those pennies, cause Melanie C's final charity single will be released Nov 27th. You can already pre-purchase it at several stores. So far only the accoustic version of "If That Were Me" and the video are confirmed to be additional things on the singels. Will this one be another number 1? Only the fans can make that happen. It is a great tender track. All proceeds will go to the homeless as previosuly announced and Melanie even convinced her Virgin palls to join in and donate around 23,000 pounds to the cause. 11-13-00 People Review People magazine has reviewed the Spice Girls "Forever" and claim it is another great album. The over all reprot "Another Good Time", I must say I completely agree. In the review the journalist states that the album does not try to imitate new music movements, but goes back to the 80's for inspiration. The tracks are great to dance to and very clever. Exactly what I like to hear. 11-13-00 Very Little Promo, Great Sells The Spice Girls third album went in at number 2 this week on the Charts, losing to Westlife by almost 3:1. Yet, the Spice Girls did far greater than critics expecting, after thrashing the album in several reviews and going so far as to question the girls likely-hood of having any success without Halliwell. Congrats to the girls for proving them wrong, without promoting the album what-so-ever they got in at number two which says a lot more about the album then if they had shoved it in peoples faces like Westlife did. Anyway the boys also deserve some credit, now they can sleep. Word has it that "Forever" has sold over 950,000 copies worldwide on its first day with over 300,000 copies being sold in Canada! It seems like the Girls whould concider visiting Canada 11-11-00 Melanie On CD:UK

News that Westlife's 'Coast To Coast' is outselling the Spice Girl's album, 'Forever', by two-to-one has been greeted by a torrent of abuse directed at the Irish singers and contemporary pop in general from Mel C. Mel, who is known to be suffering from depression, also directed her wrath at Robbie Williams and former bandmate Geri Halliwell. "Robbie is just a cabaret singer - everyone's getting sick of him," she said speaking at the launch of the Spice Girls' album. "I'm sure he was shagging Geri - do you think she's got talent? I don't." When conversation turned to current chart rivals Westlife,Mel didn't spare them, saying: "They're a useless bunch of talentless tossers - a bunch of t**ts. They don't deserve to be in the charts let alone number one - I think it's disgusting bands like A1, STEPS and Westlife get to number one. It's all crap." However, Mel confessed that she expected the Westlife album to outsell 'Forever', saying: "We don't care if they beat us to number one - they probably will but it sums up how s**t music is at the moment." Mel C joins a growing list of pop luminaries, including Bono, Damon Albarn and George Michael, who have recently chosen to speak out about the perceived current sterility of the music industry.
