12-31-01 Northern Star Rises Again This year has been a pretty interesting year for Melanie C; with the wind-up of the highly successful Northern Star Tour, the constant media backlash in the early 2001, the embrassing of the media by the end of the year, the recording of Russell Watson's tv special, the recording of Bohemian Rhapsody and Independence Day, and the begining of album 2. Ofcourse, even greater acheivements include winning the Scouser of the Year award and seeing her album, "Northern Star" make an amazing re appearance on the British Music Charts entering at number 71. We'd like to congratulate this wonderful singer and performer. Northern Star has been a great album. Being released in late 99 the album entered the charts at number 5. The album then moved downwards only to come back in 2000 and staying in the top 20 for the full year. Melanie C reached two number one singles back to back and her album toped itself off by hitting the fourth spot on the UK album charts. In 2001, with the finl days of her tour, the album continued to sell but dropped out of the charts only to reappear as the year came to a close. Northern Star has definetely been a pleasant surprise, surpassing initial expectations, and by the looks of it, the follow up will live up to the legacy. We wish all out daily visitors and their loved ones and Melanie C and her loved ones a great New Years Eve and New Years. 2002 is already on a good start with the release of "Independence Day" on the "Bend It Like Beckham" movie as well as the release of album 2!
Wishing you all a great holiday season. May you all spend it in great company with loved ones.
Hey there! Happy Holidays everyone! Check out Melanie C's letters page for new answers.
PS: There might be less updates due to Melanie C hiding in the studio recording her new album and keeping a nice low profile. She's happy like that and we're happy she is happy. We are well aware there is scarce news, and we'll post all the latest as soon as it reaches our ears. If you have news to share, please email us.
Melanie C has won the Scouseology award. The awards are based on internet votes. They are concidered "Oscars" in entertainment, arts and sports.
Melanie C has also been speaking out more freely against the homelessness. She has been stated saying that the government doesn't do enough about it. Although her proceedes for her "If That Were Me" single went to different homeless charities, Melanie C has opted to do more personal aid. Melanie C has made it back in the news after she gave a homeless person change, and then invited him to have lunch with her. All I can say is, she is very admirable. If only we could all be a little more like her....She's definetely a great role model.
Rumours continue to fly in about the end of the Spice Girls. The Mirror, UK tabloid, reports that the Spice Girls held a secret meeting to discuss bringing down the curtains on Spice Girls Limited which has not done well this year. Each girl is rumoured to have only made 20,000 pounds each.
Along with this rumour comes news that Melanie C did not attend the meeting because she is quoted on saying, from a close source, that she is sick and tired of this shared. Melanie C has been the Spice Girl to have had the best solo success so far, and it is the solo careers that keep the girls together. So far, the rest of the group has used the groups success to catapult them into solo stardom, and they clench on to the existance of a group as a net incase they crash. Let's face it no one wants to fall too harshly.
But Melanie C thinks that keeping the group alive for the soul purpouse of a smooth fall is not fair for fans, and is not worth the effort of each girl. Instead she opts to stay on the side line until something wise is figured out. Like Melanie C has always said, she is proud of being a Spice Girl, she will always be a Spice Girl.

Melanie C's position on the Smash Hits Poll has slipped. Lets get her back into the top five, actually she kept the fourth spot for days. If we all vote and continue to do so we can get her back on top. J Lo has now taken over her spot and Melanie finds herself in the 7th spot.
