03-31-01 Scared Spice Melanie C ran off stage after fans ran up on stage to be closer to her. Melanie C was finishing one of her Canadian gigs and was on the encore when approximaltey fifteen fans ran up on satge. When one of the girls tried to hug her, Melanie turned around and left the stage. An onlooker said that Melanie was performing I Turn To You when the incident occured. The onlooker also said that security was not probably expecting the fans to go on stage and weren't ready for the incident. Melanie C looked very frightened when she cut the song short and left. Sounds pretty scary to me too. Sure they are fans and all, but we all know how timid Melanie C is, and having fifteen people run right at you must be pretty frightening. We must remember that she is one of the Spice Girls, a highly respected solo artist and for such reason is always being hounded by paparatzi and all. She has to be careful about what she does and she was probably just playing it safe.
Interviewing with Canadian press, Melanie C let it be known that she did not think Hear'Say was giving pop music a good name. She said that the premanufactured group was old now and that making it so obvious is just making pop look cheap. Ofcourse Melanie C does come from a pre-manufactured pop group herself, Spice Girls. The Spice Girls broke the premanufactured mold early on when all five girls left the management team that put them together in hopes of forming the girl group that all five girls wanted and would be proud of. Soon after that they landed representation by Simon Fuller, Annie Lennox's management team, and got a few musicians to cowrite with them for free on their debut album Spice. None-the-less Melanie C does want the record to go on saying that she does think every single member of the group is highly talented, but that she doesn't think they'll be seeing much of the profit, the people behind the secenes will instead.

Just wanted to drop you all a little line and thank you for the great emails and correspondence. You're all great! Please don't forget to show your support for Melanie C and vote for her at the Capital FM Awards. I also would like to let you all know how happy I am. Yesterday, for the first time, I saw Melanie C's "Northern Star" on the "Hot Hits" section of Best Buy (a music/computer/all electrical store....very well known in the USA). It makes me happy to see that the album is being promoted a little better, and that Best Buy management natonwide think that the album is "HOT" cause it is. Most Best Buy stores are set up similarly, so it is no surprise if they all had her album in the same display at the front of the stores, next to the check outs. Now is only Virgin would release another track, officially and not promotionally, in the USA. I'd say release NBTSA and make it include the Kung Pow Edit (the club mix only available in the US promo). I think the only reason ITTY didn't hit it too big on the singles chart is because it was expensive compared to the 2 dollar singles, and most importantly "NYC Underground Party" was released a week before the single and included the Hex Hector Club edit!! That has to have killed a few sales! Not to mention that for five more dollars you could have the techno cd that includes club hits such as ITTY. But with one more hit single the album would be promoted more and it'd sale better...I know I won't buy a cd until I've heard two singles off the album atleast.....ofcourse I buy anything Melanie C related blindly. He he he. What do you guys think?

Melanie C will be the opening act for Bon Jovi on their first night of their 2001 world tour. The event will take place in the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm, Sweden and it is expected that the corwd will be of 32,000 poeple. A great promotion for Melanie C.

The review was not the greatest so I haven't added it becuase the review pertty much says that it is hard to hate Melanie but that she needs to make her shows funner with dancer and the such. It seems that yet anther US date has been cancelled. It is rumoured that the West Palm Beach, Florida gig has been cancelled. If anyone has information about this to confirm please contact me.

Raw Spice was the highest viewed program on Tuesday. The show was watched by almost 10 million people! Other Tuesday night favorites were pushed aside with Raw Spice's success. Its Your Life only atracted 6.7 million people with the rest of the shows only bringing in 4.4 million or less viewers. It seems that no matter what the Spice Girls are still a phenomenon to reckon with. My personal oppinion is tht htey still have what is necessary to kick *** as a group, but they need to promote and get it all out there.

Raw Spice, a documentary about the Spice Girls when they lived in Maidenhead, will be aired tomorrow on ITV at 8pm UK time. The special shows the powerstruggle between Geri and Mel B and promises many more juicy moments. The video will be available in DVD and VHS fromat later this month and will include up to 20 minutes that didn't make it to the TV airing of the documentary. Wow!
In an interview in Moscow, Melanie C let fans know a little about her love life, wanting a baby, and Spice life.
"I need real love. It's just my time hasn't come yet. I am a fatalist. There are thousands od 27 year-old girls- the same age as me who don't even have boyfriends. And as I am a singer who can't stay long in one place, it's even harder to concentrate on personal matters."
About having a baby:
"I cannot say definitely. It depends. Victoria and David are a very good example for me in this sense, but at the moment I am just too independent."
About the Spice Girls:
"I am afraid I am not in the mood to discuss this now. Everybody grows. It's nature's call, and I am not an exception. When I was Sporty Spice I felt like a kid, and now I feel an adult. I can say that the atmosphere in the group has changed. Mel and Victoria are raising kids now and we cannot afford eight-month tours."

Acording to Spice Girl Melanie B, also known as Scary Spice, the Spice Girls are working on a new movie which is in the "pipeline" stage as of right now.
According to online sources an unofficial interview cd, "Spice Girls: Absolute Spice Girls", is released today.
Melanie C will be on Jay Leno's show April 6th. Hopefully she will ber perforimng ITTY live. This would be the second time she performaes the single live in the US. The first time was a few weeks after she hit the number one spot on the Billboard Dance/Club music chart. She performed it on the Live With Regis show.

Melanie's performance of "I Turn To You" was amazing. She looked beautiful. But even the performance was not enought to allow her to win the awards. Teen pop sensation Britney Spears won the Best Female Category and Rednex won the best single award. Better luck next time Melanie. It's tough to go against such competition....but just the fact that you're categorized with that same crowd is a great accompleshment.

Melanie C will be present at the ECHO music awards in Berlin, Germany this Thursday 15th of March. The show will be aired on German Channel RTL and begins around 21:15 German time. No big news today. Just wanted to drop you all a little line. It is that time of year for most of us in school, you know the one where you realize the semseter is coming to a close very soon. I wanted to wish you all luck, and hopefully I'll hear from you guys soon. Don't forget about "I Turn To You", Melanie C's first US single. Most stores have it in stock already, and it is definetly a great buy for those of you who bought the UK imports because it has Tilt's Maverick remix that ws not included on those two singles. Tilt's Maverick remix was only included in the exclusive Australian import and now on the US single. Only think is that I think it is sad Virgin hasn't hyped it up more, it is almost four months since the single hit it big around the world. Though it is a hot track at the clubs, it has also been a few months since it topped the charts on the Billboard....so it seems Virgin needs to promote it more....maybe releasing the video to MTV would be a good idea.....but then again I am not the Virgin Records president.
ITTY is out today in America. This is Melanie C's first ever American single. Purchase it today, buy it for other friends too, US singles are usually very cheap. But just remember to request it at your cd stores and spread the word. The track is hot in the underground clubs, so hopefully it'll do very very well.

Melanie C has just announced that she is already in the talks with Eminem to see whether or not he'd be interested in colaborating on a track for her next album. This is surprising since her bandmates have not been very impressed about Eminem's performances in England. Furthermore Spiceworld could get even more messy as news comes to us today that Melanie B, Scary Spice, may have a little more to say about the Spice Girls as a band. Rumour has it that Virgin has given her a warning that her contract as a solo artist is up for renewal in June, and her album has yet not made an impact. Her solo singles have been "dissappointing" on the charts and her album "flopped". Therefore it is said that Virgin bosses have told her that if her next single intitled "Lullaby" doesn't make it into the top 5 she will be dropped from the label. This news would definetly make her put her attention once again on the safety net that is the Spice bubble, and that may cause some inner turmoil for the rest of the girls who also are giving solo stardom a shot. I hope Melanie B has better luck thatn that, I hope it is just a stupid rumour. But if there is any truth from it exxpect some major turmoil in the perfect world that is Spiceworld. Melanie fears that constant paparazzi hounding could lead to her death. In an interview Melanie told the press that with the recent "rumour" of the Spice Girls break-up the paparazzi have hounded her. She has been blocked into her car by paparazzi cars, she almost crashed into one of them when he blocked her on a highway just days ago. Melanie C says:
"I've been chased by paparazzi on busy roads and they've blocked me in when I've stopped. It's really scary. We all remember what happened to Princess Diana, but it doesn't seem to have deterred anybody at all. the truth of the matter is I haven't left the Spice Girls. But when i am asked questions, I'm going to answer honeslty. And at the moment we're all pursuing solo careers, and have got no plans to do any Spice Girls work in the immediate future."

It seems that although NBTSA was one of the tracks that lead to "Northern Stars" success, as far as it promoting the album through lots of airplay, it has been "I Turn To You" that has gotten Melanie C nominated for several awards in the year 2001. Melanie C is nomintaed for the TMF Award. She is nomintaed for Best Single at the Netherland based award ceremony. Other artists running against her include N'sync for "Bye Bye Bye", Anastacias "I'm Outta Love", the Bahamaen's "Who Let The Dogs Out", and Destiny's Child "Independent Women Part 1". Personally I think the major challenege is from Destiny's Child. ITTY is such a hot track at the moment and the only other song of those nominated that has been such a world success as ITTY has been "Independent Women Part 1". Good luck Melanie! Melanie C and the rest of the Spice Girls have gone on record stating that there is no "Spice Girls split". Melanie C reports that she was misinterpreted, and that she has "...NOT LEFT THE SPICE GIRLS". Emma interviewed Melanie on CD:UK over the telephone, and Mel B and Victoria have both also told press they doubt Melanie C was understood correctly. In a sense there are no Spice Girls plans set in stone at the moment for the future, solo careers are the main focus, so in essense Melanie C's comment is not wrong. It wsw jsut misinterpreted as an end, when indeed it is just a "pause".
On the other hand reporters did state that Melanie C has been approached several times to be interviewed and she has been very mad and rude to reporters. Concidering everything they've done to her I don't blame Melanie....but it is still odd for Melanie C, who is so kind and cheery all the time, to behave in such a serious "mad" way. Then again don't we all have bad days?
"I'll always be a Spice Girl. I don't intend to do any more work with the Spice Girls....Really, I've not been comfortable being in the Spice Girls for probably the last two years. It doesn't really feel that natural to me anymore. I've grown up, and I just feel that I want to do things my own way and not compromise. We (Spice Girls) were such a huge phenomenon, and there's not really anywhere else to go with that. It was a question of sacrificing our lives and trying to maintain the success, or just being honest with ourselves. We've all been very honest and we all wanted to pursue solo careers. What she said is that we've got no plans at the moment and it's been exaggerated into the fianl split and it isn't the final split. As everyone knows, the Spice Girls are pursuing their own solo projects but the Spice Girls still exists. It ain't over until it's over and it ain't over."

Hey everyone! Melanie C is doing fine according to reports so you need not worry about her well being. She did escape death by a matter of two minutes when that plane blew up two minutes before she landed, but Melanie was escorted out of the building immediately. She has told press that her heart goes out to the family whose member died in the explosion. Thanks to all those of you who have emailed me letters of worry. If you want to you can email her through her website and let her know how you felt, cause I think she should know. Not that she doesn't know that she means so much to her fans....but it would still be a very nice gesture. Thanks Dana for the letter.

Melanie C's debut North American tour has been reported by CDnow AllStars News. Along with the usual news we know such as the dates and Melanie C's success with ITTY in America the journalist has also reported that Melanie C was very close to death when she visited Thailand last weekend. A few minutes before her plane touched ground a plane blew up in the airport as it was being fueled. The plane that blew up was going to carry the Prime Minister of Thailand, the prime minister was to board 35 minutes after the plane blew-up. There was one death and one injured. Thankfully neither Melanie C nor the Prime Minister were injured. I'm sorry for the family who's member passed away. It is a terrible tragedy.
Hi evryone. Not too much to say. I found a great page with pics of Melanie C at Singapore, check that out here. I also have heard that The Spice Girls' "Tell Me Why" has been released and aired in the Phillipines, and it is at number 3 on some of the radio charts. Just to stress it out though, the single is a promo for the radio only. We'll have to wait and see what happened to the Thunderpuss edits.
Anyway, I am on break at the moment in sunny Florida. I'm sorry I hadn't been able to update earlier, but I had not been able to unpack and everything...it's Spring BReak you know? College kids go crazy during Spring Break. If any of you are on Spring Break have a great time, if you are going on Spring Break soon worry not cause it'll be there quicker than you think. She is said to have sold a total of 2.6 million copies worldwide, but I am still trying to find the most accurate recent counts.
