Melanie C Sets The Record Straight
From Melanie C's Official Site

"There have been a few stories circulating in the press lately about me, my record label, the track listing for the second album and the release date. Well it's time I straightened a few things out!

Let's start with Virgin Records. I've had a fantastic relationship with my label for the past six years and I still do. They have never tried to enforce a delayed release of the album for any reason whatsoever. I had originally hoped to release the album in October/November 2002 but I needed more time. That was my decision. We are now aiming for early 2003. It's amazing how often the press try to conjure up tension between the artist and the record company ‚ makes exciting reading I suppose. Anyway, I'm very pleased with how the album's coming along and so are my record company. It is such an old cliché to roll out those 'nasty bosses at record label demand female artist loses weight' type lines. As if! My record label are interested in the music I make. I'm not signed to a modelling agency, for f**k's sake. Another myth is that I would be avoiding a release around the same time as Melanie B and Geri have books being published. Firstly, I won't have nearly finished my album in time and secondly, I'm releasing an album of songs - I'm not writing a book.

We were having a laugh in the office this morning about some of the track names being suggested by the newspapers for the album. In the Letters section a few months back I mentioned that one of the tracks is called Here It Comes Again ‚ they got that one right, but that's the only one! Check out some of these mythical titles: Come Over To My Bed, It's Not Fair, and Bite Me! Where the hell did they come from? bit too kinky for me! They also talked about the track 'You Taught Me' which was a demo from years and years ago!

So as you can see, all is good with me and album number #2. You'll have to wait a few more months for your first listen but I'm hoping you'll think it was worth waiting for.

Love M"

Short Update

Working on the website is never ending. I've got a few more things to add, but the site will be open as we add these new items. So please visit back shortly.

I was thrilled to see Melanie C and the Spice Girls receiving airplay in the USA this past week. About a week ago, as I was shopping in the malls in Miami, I heard Melanie C's "I Turn To You" playing out of the loud speakers. Ofcourse I didn't just hear it once, I heard it almost every day! Yesterday I heard the Spice Girls' "Stop" being played on the radio at the gym aswell. I have to admitt I would have prefered them to play "Holler" or "Tell Me Why", you know more recent music, but it was cool to hear them none-the-less.

Second Album Petition

Here is a great petition you can all participate in. Please participate. MTV's report, below, claims the album will be released October....but that is not 100% certain. Either way it's good that Virgin be made aware of the amount of fans Melanie C has and how much we are behind her.

Are you tired of waiting for Melanie C's second solo album? Bummed out that Virgin has a rumoured hold on the album awaiting Melanie to lose a scone for the promo? Do you think Virgin is being ridiculous thinking that Melanie C fans are only her fans because of her looks?

A petition has been created to let Melanie C know that her fans are behind her 100% and to let Virgin know that they should not fear that Melanie C's album won't sell. Virgin needs to know that Melanie C fans are patient and awaiting for her album. Most of all Virgin needs to know Melanie C fans are loyal. With the recent low sales on the other solo Spice Girls albums, Virgin wants to do all possible to prevent low sales of Melanie C's second album due to appearances or what not. If Virgin is made aware that we're all crazy about Melanie C and really await the album's release they might reconcider the alleged hold on the album. So please participate.

What do you have to do? Just sent in an email to the below address and include the following, in the order shown please:

First Name, Last Name- City, State- Country

Here It Comes Again, The Weight Issue Revealed!

Angie, yes the famous Ahung from Spicenews and Solospicenews, has contacted Melanie C's management team and gotten a reply from Jamie Vickery.

Jamie tells Angie that the supposed disagreement with Virgin is not true and that Virgin would never threat Melanie C from releasing her album over weight issues.

Having said this we can relax a bit, but I can't help pointing out that Emma Bunton lost a few stones before releasing her solo album and Spice Girls album and that was also rumoured to be cause Virgin thought the albums would sell better if she was trimmer.

Here It Comes Again Delayed!

Melanie C's follow up to 99's super succesful "Northern Star" is being delayed by Virgin Records until the super-star loses a few pounds!

WorldPop reported today that Melanie C's second album, "Here It Comes Again", is actually already finished but the star and record label are in a "fight" at the moment.

Virgin bosses wanted Melanie C to lose weight in order to promote the album for it's September release date but have decided to push back the release date till February giving Melanie C as much time as needed to shed the extra weight she put on since her last album.

A close source says that Melanie C and Virgin have seen eye to eye on the musical aspect of her career but not on the aesthetics. It seems Virgin believes her weight gain will affect sales of the album and Melanie C refuses it will.

Close after "Northern Star" was released Melanie C declared she was fighting an eating disorder brought on by media speculations when she was in the Spice Girls. She didn't feed herself right and it wasn't until a doctor told her she might not be able to have children if she continued to harm her body that Melanie C decided to be healthy but not super stick skinny. Since then she has served as a role model to her fans, showing them to be comfortable with their looks and most of all, showing them that the shape, form or color of a person is not important. The heart and soul are the most important aspects. And that one can be a succesful no matter what their appearance is.(A great lesson to teach children)

Now Virgin bosses have decided that without a stick thin figure her album may suffer from low sales.

Melanie C is the only Spice Girl signed on to Virgin as a solo artists, all the other girls have left Virgin after coming to terms that what Virgin offered them was not what they needed in their careers...ie they weren't seeing eye to eye.

It now seems that the truth of the delay of the album comes to light...after much talk about it's recording phase. Melanie C recorded "Northern Star" in a fraction of the time it's taken to hear any word about the new album, "Here It Comes Again". It now seems that the delay was not because of recording commitments or the lack of, instead it has come down to the image that will be the slip for the cd and the voice that is what drives the music.

I'm personally sick of hearing record labels forcing their singers to be one way or another. They are singers cause of the talent and the voice...if it was up to just the image they'd all be Mini Vanilli....remember them?

Melanie C Supports Paul

Above is a yet more recent picture of Melanie C and brother Paul at the Toca Tour, car race, recently. The picture is of the R 11-12 Croft Race and was taken the 13th of July...this past Saturday.

Melanie C looks very happy, despite Paul not winning. The news may be sad, but that is no reason for us to pout. We're very proud of Paul indeed!

Not So Melanie C

Our darling Miss Chisholm has made it into the news ones again, this time with a little less information on her and more on her past beau.

The 3AM girls can report that Mel C's ex beau, Dan Cadan, was drafted in at the "11th hour" to add some "sparkle" into Madonna's breif role in the new James Bond movie.

This certainly isn't Melanie C news...but it's a brief article that mentioned her and taking into account that very little news has been posted I've taken the liberty of adding it here.

New Domain!

Sorry for the lack of updates ya'll. Not much has been happening luckily.

Some non-Melanie C news:

I've already uploaded the new site....but I've been trying to get my IP and Domain name, MelCNews.com, to link up...yet the website server has been very helpful where as the host of the domain name has avoided any of my requests.

Please update your links and bookmarks. MelCNews.com will be changing domain name. I've had a bit of a problem with the host, registrar, of the domain name and switching the domain name to another registrar will be too much of a hassel. We'll be changing the name within a few weeks. Our new domain name will be Melanie-C-News.com

Thank you very very much.
