09-27-02 20:35 EST Red Hot Thanks Angie Melanie has been included in the recent VH1 "chart" shows. VH1 USA recently ranked the Spice Girls at number 75 for their contribution to music and their sexy appeal in their VH1 100 sexiest artists. Vh1 UK has also ranked the Spice Girls and Melanie C in their chart for most successful female artists. Viewers voted and now the show will be airing Sept 30- October 4 each day at 8pm and the chart will be see in it's entirety Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th. These recent acknowledgments are great both for the group and Melanie as a solo artist. This ought to get Virgin very excited to promote both Spice Girls and Melanie C products.
Worldpop.com got a hold of Virgin records to confirm the rumours of a Spice Girls Greatest Hits album. Virgin denied the rumours saying they were completely false. Virgin went on record to say that there were no plans for any upcoming Spice Girls release.
Melanie C's second solo album is the only upcoming Spice Girls release Virgin is aware of. (Note: Melanie C is the only Spice Girl to be signed to Virgin as a solo artist.)
It seems that according to some online sources, NME and TMF, The Spice Girls are getting set to release a "Greatest Hits Album".
This rumour has been widely spread since "Forever" was released, but had managed to die down. Now NME has re-stated that the Spice Girls have come to an agreement with Virgin that they will allow a release of a greatest hits only if they can add two new bonus tracks for fans.
The rumour continues that the girls will not record the tracks together (who knows how they'll write them then) and that they won't perform any shows to promote the release (another "Forever" move I suppose).
The rumour further delves on the relationship between the Spice Girls. It is said that the friendship is spread so thinly over ice that Melanie B had to visit Melanie C to convince her to please record the tracks now that 3 out of the 4 girls had agreed. Melanie C agreed. (Melanie B's PR just said Melanie C was not the reason of the LA trip)
There seems to be no other way to deal with this news other than saying, the Spice Girls still mange to cause commotion in the tabloids. For a group that hasn't released anything since "Forever", they seem to be doing pretty well. It seems that somewhere deep inside the people's hearts, they still want the Spice Girls around (hint people, buy their albums and they'll hang aroound!)
Melanie B has stood up to the plate to be the first Spice Girl to hush up rumours. Fans had their bets that Melanie C or Geri would be the first to deny a group reunion, due to their successful solo careers, but it seems the lady behind the rumours set them to rest.
Melanie B's PR has stated that Melanie B is on vacation in LA and it was unsure if she would even see Melanie C. Melanie B's trip was to take a break with Phoenix Chi and to negotiate on some potential acting opportunities. Melanie B has been spotted with her ex-beau Max Beesley while vacationing, she has yet to have been spotted with Spice pal Melanie C.
It seems that not only have the Sun reported the Spice Girls "re-union" but so has WorldPop.com, TOTP and a few other online tabloids/music e-magazines.
I still think we'll need a little more proof before we take this article as a fact. BUT, I think it'd be wicked to have the Spice Girls back as they were since the beginning. As four they work nicely, but they image they have with Geri is wicked cause Geri's so outgoing. You'd know the shows benefit when someone in the group is boucning off the walls.
According to THE SUN, UK Tabloid, the Spice Girls might be abck sooner than you think....IF Mel C and Geri decide to leave their solo careers for a little while.
Melanie B's visit to LA to see Mel C and talk about potential acting jobs also has another motive, to convince Melanie C to give the group another go.
It seems Melanie B was the one who devised the Spice Girls split in order to have time to dedicate to her solo career, but now she is keen in having the group "re-form" with Geri.
If all goes as Melanie B has planned the girls will perform a few dates together and dedicate the "free" time to solo careers, but this ofcourse would also put some time off upcoming solo promotions as they record a forthcoming album.
It now seems the pressure is on the more successful solo Spice Girls, Geri and Melanie C, who both have the highest number 1 singles for a female artist in the UK.

The press has it's stab at Melanie again. While recording her album in LA, Melanie took a little time off to spend an afternoon Bike raiding with boyfriend Thomas Starr. While on her break Melanie was photographed, and here is the story the tabloid, The People, was able to create from just one image. I completely disagree with the article. I think her bum looks great. I'd like to see the journalist's bum...then we'd be able to see if they are justified to critique others. I think Melanie looks swell.
The purpouse of the picture is to ridicule the tabloids for being so stupid at times.
Melanie is still in LA working on her follow-up album. Miss Chisholm is doing such a great job at hiding out that no pictures have made their way over to the tabloids! She'll be receiving a visit from Melanie B shortly towards the end of Sept.
Late last night I send Jo Whiley an email. In the email I told how her dissappointed I was in Boy George for having a go at her, Melanie and Eminem. I also let her know I was thankful for her support of Melanie C, and that us fans support her and Melanie in this war of words. Here is Jo's quick and friendly reply:

Boy George is still exactly what his name implies, a little boy.
The washed up ex pop icon has gone on to slate off Radio 1 because they won't play his music. He then called their choice of music terrible and branded Melanie C "talentless" and Eminem a "fake" and even had a stab at DJ Jo Whiley!
Any Radio 1 listener will know Melanie C has received some great support from the station.
My personal look in this matter is, the man has no shame. Melanie C is much more talented than he is...she's got a great voice and can write beautiful music. She just seems to be a scape goat for someone who is easily jealous that other more worthy artists are receiving the airplay he much needs.
I guess you'll need to cut back on the make-up kit them huh George?.

In a recent interview, Melanie B was asked if she still saw the Spice Girls. Melanie replied that she had just seen Emma during her promo book signing and that Melanie C was still in LA working on her upcoming solo release.
Claire sent us some scans of the Sky One show of Celebs Behaving Badly. Melanie C popped up in a brief clip during the credits. In the clip Melanie is spotted jogging. As the camera gets closer to her Melanie pushes the camera-man and the camera away. LOL way to go Melanie!
P.S. The clip of her jogging is believed to have been taken a while...i.e. it's not recent.
In response to a previous email I sent William Orbit's website here is the response I got from William's webmaster ( he has a brilliantly run site).

A nice response, I do wish William finds a little time to work with Melanie on another excellent track. These people he's been working with list "official" statements that do not refelct future releases like, for example, Madonna. He's working with her at the moment, yet she is not mentioned in the email, the people listed are people who have release dates for this year.
Due to recent rumours, we've had a few online "celebs" have a crack at figuring out what the "truth" is.
Ahung is a constant contributor to SpiceNews.com and SoloSpiceNews.com (which should be up and running soon...server problems have caused the temporary shut-down), Ahung has also meet Melanie and has some contact with Spice HQ.
Melanie's involvement in the Appleton single seems to have arrisen when Melanie's band played a live performance with the Appletons. Spice HQ didn't not respond back to the email, but it is believed the rumours are just that...rumours. There seems to be no involvement from Melanie's part with the single or the album.
