I'LL BE BABY SPICE
SHE hasn't had much luck with men in the past but it looks like Melanie C may have found her soul mate in boyfriend Thomas Starr.
So much so that the pop star admits she's getting broody!
The former Sporty Spice kicked off her 13-date tour in Middlesbrough on Thursday and invited us along.
After her impressive performance, 29-year-old Mel was happy to talk about her relationship with the property tycoon.
"I'm at a really good stage of my life right now," Mel told 3am over champagne in her dressing-room. "My career is going well and I'm feeling really good about myself personally.
"I've been with Tom for more than a year and things couldn't be better. There's still a lot I want to achieve career-wise but I also want to get married and have kids. That's very important to me."
Although Mel wouldn't directly say she'd like Tom to father her babies, she admitted she gets broody after seeing friends such as former bandmate Victoria Beckham with her tots.
"I can't wait to have kids," she added. "But I don't know when it will happen - they're a huge responsibility and I've got a lot of other things going on right now."
Mel admitted she was nervous about performing again but said she soon felt at ease. "At the end of the day, I'm just trying to do my best and hope it's good enough for my fans."
We're sure her best will be more than good enough.

Melanie C
These aren't the best times to be a former Spice Girl. According to some tabloids, Victoria seems busier sorting out David Beckham's future, Emma Bunton's solo career is floundering and Mel B and Geri Halliwell are missing in action. Meanwhile, Melanie C is coming back in a municipal building peppered with fading posters for Rod Hull and Emu. Surreal isn't the word.
You could almost forget that Melanie Chisholm was ever in the biggest teen-pop phenomenon of the 1990s, which may be the point. She has ditched the short skirts, sporty tracksuits and cropped vests of her ill-advised "indie Spice" period - but her whole solo career has been about rapid, if not hasty, reinvention. Now she has a sleek new image in a top slashed racily at the shoulders. She looks fantastic, and often sounds quite good.
She is certainly a more confident performer than the one who tiptoed into solo performance in 1999. Backed by a proficient band (including two goth girls who could have been loaned from the Cramps), Chisholm proves that she was indeed the most vocally talented Spice.
However, the songs offer no further clues as to who she really is. The product of innumerable co-writers, they are sometimes strong but could have been written for anybody. One minute, Chisholm claims she is a danger to herself. The next, she is bizarrely purring: "You're golden delicious... all roads lead somewhere." The fruit and veg aisle at Asda, perhaps?
It's a shame her music does not really reflect the intriguing person revealed between songs: a Dad-dedicating, occasionally swearing, ordinary multimillionaire in an extraordinary job. What's it really like being a Liverpudlian, working-class megastar? Despite her excitement during hits like Never Be the Same Again, you never get the impression that she listens to much music - certainly not the AOR that dominates her current album, Reason. If Melanie C has a musical soul, it's metal, and the energy and passion she puts into rockier cuts like Yeh Yeh Yeh and Goin' Down is a fairly thrilling contrast.
One day, perhaps, she will be allowed to do a whole album of hard rock and really let her hair down. Meanwhile, her audience are just delighted to witness Melanie C, former Sp... oops, the plan hasn't quite succeeded, after all.

In other news, no confirmation on the pregnancy rumour, so we'll set that one to rest for the time being as the "insiders" promised an announcement lastnight and none was made.
Congrats to Melanie C for a wicked performance at the opening night of her UK Tour. She performed all the new album, plus some old time hits like ITTY, NBTSA, Go!, SM, GD, ITWM and WYG.
Rumours are going around that Melanie will hold a press conference tonight, on the eve of her brand new tour, to announce a little surprise, that she and Tom will be having a child.
Although we have heard from her webmaster that the rumours of her being pregnanat (started upon the recording of OTH video) were not true, we will have to wait til tonight to verify....if she's pregnant she can't hide it "forever".
In other news, vote for Melanie C at the Party In The Park nomination site! If she gets enough votes she'll be added to the line-up of artists...Party In The Park is always a great festival especially when Melanie is involved.
Melanie C finds herself in the top of the World Chart Show this week.
"Here It Comes Again" is the most requested song according the show which compiles the most aiplayed tracks from the top cities in the world and then charts them according to the most requested songs world-wide.
Meanwhile "Reason" seems to be doing good, and bad. A compilation of the best selling albums in England have "Reason" listed in the top 19th spot. It's one of the biggest selling "new" albums of 2003, but old releases are charted in the chart aswell since some old albums are still big sellers.
"Reason" has also gone gold already, but the sad news is that the album has slipped to the 101st spot in the UK charts, despite it being one of the best selling new albums of 2003.
With the release of "On The Horizon", "Reason" should begin to rise in the charts aswell and sales should pick up. If you haven't purchased the album yet what are you waiting for? Amazon.co.uk sales count towards the UK charts according to the moderator of MelanieC.Net (Melanie's official site).

Melanie has just finished shooting her video for On The Horizon. The shoot took place in Malaga and was directed by Howard Greenhalgh who also worked on 'Goodbye' and 'Too Much'. You'll be able to see the video first on MTV and Melaniec.net from Mon 28 April. The first terrestrial showing will be on SM:TV 'Video Hotshots' on 10 May.

On The Horizon is receiving a lot of airplay in Europe already, and it seems to be warming up to be a bigger hit than HICA, but only time will tell. Don't forget to request the track, the single, along with new b-sides, will be released June 2nd and the video will be hitting TV stations sometime in May.

Here It Comes Again has been receiving airplay on The World Chart Show.
The World Chart Show compiles charts from radio stations worldwide and then chart the results of the most requested songs into their own chart based on the charts from radio stations in major cities world-wide.
Here It Comes Again was at the 7th spot on the chart during the week of March 31st and April 4th.
According to The People (UK), Melanie C had some trouble when filming her video for On The Horizon.
It seems that Melanie had to get a lift from her five dancers, yes there are dancers in this video, but they were unable to lift her easily.
Now this is all a rumour, and I doubt it's true. The tabloids are trying to get back on Melanie's back, but to anyone with sense it'd be very clear how unlikely true this story is, because five dancers should be able to lift atleast 200 pounds, and Melanie weights a lot less than that.
Diario Sur has once again added a little article and picture of Melanie C at the "On The Horizon" video shoot.
The article, which is in spanish, mentions that Melanie seemed far more comfortable and far less, in-your-face, today than she did in the hey-day of the Spice Girls when the girls were very much "load" cartoon like people. They mention that she was wearing a very bright pink shirt, baggy pants and tennis shoes at the shoot and very light make-up.
The video was set in a basketball courts, on a road while she drove a mustang, in the interior of a luxury house and a tunnel to access the beach.
The journalist tried to get an interview but was declined politely because of the time constraints. Melanie did say she was content with "Reason" and found it to be a "greatly positive" album. The journalists were also able to get some feedback from the Good Rolling Film about speculation of the video. They clairifed that the reason no "traditional" scenes of the location were used was to keep the focus on Melanie and not the town.
Melanie is recorded in controled scenes. She is shot several times and wears many costumes changes. The effect will be to fade all the different shots together to form one storyline where Melanie remains the same (ie one flowing movement) but the costumes she wears changes. It'll be a few weeks before we'll see the video.
One of the las components of the Spice girls, the popular singer Melanie C, has picked the location of Benalmadena for the scenary of her next video clip.
The video will be filmed around the Hotel Flatotel, the Municipal field, and a luxury house in the Retamar neighborhood.
The crew includes Godman from the British production company and the Spanish Good Rolling Film and are concidering the possibilities of filming in the Benalmadena Bay and in the beach near the Marimar residence if the weather permits.
The production team will bring with them 15 production vehicles to the location during the two days of filming between the 9th and 10th.

Some great fans have been reporting some news about Melanie C's airplay and sales.
"On The Horizon" has been released to some radio stations in Europe, reports coming in from Italy and Germany.
"Yeh Yeh Yeh" has also been added as the theme song to a commercial in Italy.
It seems that Virgin has been rush releasing "On The Horizon" in hopes that it'll bring in new fans to buy Melanie's new album. "Reason" continues to decend in the UK charts, this week falling 30 spots to the 67th spot. "Here It Comes Again" also drops two spots to the 67th spot in the UK singles chart. Hopefully the release of radio friendly "On The Horizon" will give radio listeners a little more to base a judgement of the album on, and hopefully they'll like the diversity of the two singles and buy the album.
