Melanie is still on vacation, but today 45 Management confirmed what has been spoken during the last week.
Last week news crept that Melanie C was being dropped from Virgin Records due to low sales, despite a 3 year contract. We may perhaps never know who left who.
The facts are that Melanie is no longer signed under Virgin Records as a solo artist. She and 45 managment have been speaking about what needed to be done since her last single, Virgin did very little to promote the album and the singles and the formats of the cds were terrible.
Today, 45 can confirm that Melanie C will not be signin any deals. Though originally they mentioned she would take her time and deciding her next label, it seems the star has decided to start her own lable to release her own material. 45 has confirmed that Melanie was un the writing process of the third solo album when she parted ways with Virgin but she was able to keep her new work, she will continue to push forward with her new material and is anxious to see how her fans react to the news and the new material she hopes to put out before summer 2004. Previously Melanie mentioned a Spring deadline, but in order to keep some fans at bay, we've taken the liberty to extend the date here at MelCNews.com
Meanwhile, look forward to Melanie's birthday coming up rather quickly this month. We're behind you all the way Melanie.
Sorry for the lack of updates within the last month everyone.
Promotion for "Reason" has now come to an end. Melanie's last single entered the charts at the 27th position. Congratulation to her, it was unfortunate the single had an odd formatting, and even more unfortunate that many stores stocked the single very poorly.
Melanie is currently working on her 3rd album. During her last concert of the year, this past Saturday and Sunday, Melanie appeared in top form.
Melanie performed classice Northern Star tracks like Go!, Goin'Down, NBTSA, ITTY, Suddenly Monday, Be The One, ITWM, Northern Star; NS b-side I Want You Back; fave "Reason" tracks like HICA, Home, PS, OTH, Melt, Reason; Reason b-sides Love To You, Like That. She even had room to perform covers of I Believe In The Thing Called Love and spread some holiday cheers with x-mas number Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.
Expect a new fresh look for Melanie in the very near future. If the lady herself can control things, she'll be back in summer with a brand new album, one with deeper lyrics. If her recent appearances are anything to base judgement on, a greater more gutsy, lyricaly deep, and musically rich new album will be produced.
Enjoy your holidays, may peace and love fill your homes this holiday season.
Melanie keeps trading in her jeans for skirts.
The lady has looked absolutely stunning with her recent wardrobe change, and we here at MelCNews.com applaude her effort.
Rock chic personified, not to mention a sexier more youthful look. You name them, she's worn them, glittery jean skirts, plaided, kahki, black...the list goes on and the fans cheer on aswell.
Melanie turned on the lights in Liverpool for the opening of the Christmas season. She performed a set of four songs after the celebrations starting with "Yeh Yeh Yeh" following it by The La's "There She Goes" and finishing with "Never Be The Same Again".
Melanie wore a festive outfit, a red short sleeve top with a matching red skirt with a green and yellow pattern.
Check Out her picture at the The Liverpool Echo.
Melanie's rumoured last single off the album "Reason" has charted in at number 27. Melt/Yeh Yeh Yeh was Melanie's third single off her latest album. "Yeh Yeh Yeh" was scheduled for release Sept 22nd but due to her serious knee injury and surgery the single was delayed till Nov 10th. The track "Melt" was added to the single to make it a double A-side and allow Melanie to perform live during the week of the release.
Melanie has gone into the recording studio and has already layed down one track, officially from her mouth, but she's already had three new published tracks added to her catalogue of music at EMI's publishing website.
Melanie hopes to release a new album in the summer of 2004 and plans to take all three albums on the road. In response to her sound, Mel has commented that the new album will be a little more angry, the lyrics a bit more deep, and the overall sound will be departing from the "pop" sound.
In a recent interview Melanie commented that she hoped the new album would be more organic, a word which brought fear into some fans minds as "Reason" was more organic and fans are requesting an edgier sounding third album, but only time will tell what the outcome of the past year will have on the music.

As part of The Melt Campaign, we suggest and request you buy your singles from online stores or walk in stores which automatically count towards the charts. Here is a list of such stores.
Walk In Stores:
Woolsworth
Online Stores:
HMV.co.uk
Do NOT purchase your singles from ASDA, WHSmith, Sanity because the purchase will not be added up to the chart sales and therefore will not help give Melanie a higher chart entry...this news has been officially verified.
The Melt Campaign has had its success; hopefully more is to come.
Woolies has requested twice as many preorder copies of the double A side Melt/Yeh Yeh Yeh as requested initially. How does this help? The more stock they have the better the chances are they won't sell out so more copies are available to purchase.
Last time On The Horizon had a short lived life on the charts as it was hard for fans to get their hands on the single as stores lacked to stock up on the single.
By requesting singles prior to the selling date, you, the fans, have helped move more copies of Melt/Yeh Yeh Yeh as were initially requested, and therefore has started to give Melt/Yeh Yeh Yeh a better chance for the run to the top of the charts.
Keep up the good work.
