Melanie C spent most of 2001 touring the US, UK, Europe, Asia and Africa in support of her solo album "Northern Star". The World Tour was planned after the great success of the sell-out European tour in 2000 and the sell-out brief 30 Day World Tour in 1999. "Northern Star", Melanie C's solo album, went double platinum, and "I Turn To You" became the first Spice Girls solo single to go to number 1 on Billboard, and it was the first Spice Girls single to turn number 1 on Billboard without an official release or promo-video release.
